Problem of Two Monkeys

This is said to be Problem # 1 in the Book Leelaavatee by Bhaaskaraachaarya.

Two monkeys Ape and Babe are sitting on a tree. They spot Banana-peel on the ground. Ape jumps down the tree and hops to the the peel. Babe goes a little up and jumps directly down to the peel. Both reach the peel simultaneously.

Can there be a mathematical relation for the following distances, assuming average speeds of both Ape and Babe are same ?

(1) Height on the tree from ground, when Ape and Babe spot the peel

(2) Horizontal Distance between foot of the tree to the peel

(3) Height to which Babe goes up, on the tree from the spotting point.
